Inspiration

One of my favorite things to see in the shop is something so silly. In the Mercantile building, there are a set of skylights that seems to be a frequent landing spot for our local seagulls. Now you may be reading this and think, "yeah, so what?" What fascinates me every time is how the shadow is created on the skylight. Our skylights are frosted and not transparent, and yet within the shadow, you get the outline of the bird, yet their feet are still visibly orange.

You may be asking why I chose to share this with you. I think it is important for us to stop and enjoy the little things in life, to look at the world from a different perspective, and allow those curiosities and discoveries to onslure you in new ways. Trying to come up with new products and ideas for the shop has me looking at wood and other daily items in a new way and from a new perspective. We go through life so quickly these days. Everything is instantaneous and we go from point A to point B without stopping to enjoy where we are and what we see. I challenge you to slow down, look at something from a new perspective and find inspiration in the wonderful world around you.
